Farewell to the Land of the Morning Calm

So it seems my time in this wonderful, friendly, delicious country has very quickly come to an end. I now only have just over a week left to bid my farewells, eat my last kimbab and ride my last city bus. In the next month I’ll have to learn to eat a new kind of spicy food (though Korea put up a good fight I hear it has nothing against India. Great) and be stared at on a whole new level of intense.

I’m really going to miss this place. Coming to Korea has been the best decision I’ve made and has helped me grow in so many ways. I feel like a totally different person from when I first got here, fresh out of university. I feel a little more mature, and though I’m still not sure what I’m going to do one day, I definitely have new passions and adventures  to go on that I didn’t even know existed till now. I’m quite proud of myself and the things I’ve accomplished this year. I’d be lying if I said I thought this year was going to be easy and that it was exactly what I wanted to do. But now that it’s over, I couldn’t be more happy that I came here. I’ve met so many wonderful people, who I hope I’ll be in contact with for a long time to come. I think everyone who’s been to Korea leaves with at least one new best friend. I’m sure going to miss some of these guys and gals here.

The excitement I’m feeling right now, on the other hand, is uncontrollable! I cannot wait for that moment I put my foot down on Indian soil! When that dry, dusty heat hits me right in the face. I get to experience yet another culture of which I have little to no knowledge about in the most raw and perfect way: by spending time there, roughing it, riding around on a motorbike the way they do and by submerging myself in everything that is India! It’s going to be amazing!

But I have a few challenges that await me when I arrive on beautiful African soil again. I have to get through the process of getting four visas in a very limited time. And while each visa can take more than a week to process, and I only have four before I fly out to New Delhi, things might get a little stressful at times.

So, just another little update on what I’ve been doing. Which has been packing mostly. I don’t really know how I’m going to fit a whole year’s worth of…stuff in one bag. Wish me luck!! Anyoungikeseyo!
